COUNCILLOR Sandra Semple will not be seeking re-election as chairman of Seaton Town Council next month.

COUNCILLOR Sandra Semple will not be seeking re-election as chairman of Seaton Town Council next month.

Cllr Semple, who has served three consecutive years at the helm, made the announcement during the April meeting of the council on Monday night. She said: "I won't be standing for the post of chairman or vice-chairman in the coming year. I think it's time for change and change is good."

A successor will be nominated next month at the town council's annual general meeting.

Cllr Semple, who was elected chairman following a highly successful campaign for former pressure group Stand Up For Seaton, said she will be away when the handover takes place. She added: "It's been a great pleasure to do the job and it's been a challenge.
