THE fight for the St Michael's ward saw former councillor Barry Nicholson, who stood as an Independent, lose his seat to Conservative candidate Sara Randall Johnson.Mr Nicholson, who was deselected by the Tories, was third in the polls after attracting 869 votes.Miss Randall Johnson polled 1,495 votes, winning by a majority of 235 votes against Lib Dem Marion Olive, who won 1,260 votes.Labour candidate Alf Boom polled 151 votes.Turnout: 42.3 perc ent. Number of spoilt ballot papers: 31.
