A team of building workers will be restoring the 1902 site, working on brickwork and stone window surrounds to reverse damage caused by over a century of salty sea air.
Conservators Lucy Wright and Sarah Hollowood, and stonemason Kerry Scrimgeour have been employed by historic building conservation specialists Carrek to repair the 1902 listed building.
Funding for the work has been provided by the Friends of the Museum, West Dorset District Council, Lyme Regis Town Council and Dorset County Council.
It will be business as usual inside the building.
