A Seaton building and roofing company has been given the green light to build four new houses – using their own skills and labour.

R W Dack & Sons, based in Harepath Road, will construct the homes in the same street as its business premises, on a site west of Hazelwood, with access from Rowan Drive.

Two residents of Rowan Drive wrote to East Devon District Council objecting to the proposal, saying they had not been consulted.

They also said they were worried about the extra traffic generated by the construction work, which is expected to take around 12 months, and that they were not happy about the height of the properties.

But the scheme has been approved by planning officers in a delegated decision, meaning it did not go before the Development Management Committee for discussion.

The company say construction work will begin in the near future.
