Honiton Community College rolls out new cashless catering system.
Students and staff at Honiton Community College have been getting to grips with a new technological innovation
which is set to revolutionise school dinners.
The cashless catering system was implemented last week and is already proving popular with students who say it is reducing queuing times.
The system uses biometric technology to pay for food purchased at the college’s canteen and works by using a reader to scan a student’s finger to access their individual account.
The college’s director of finance, Gary Wills, said: “It is going extremely well. The students seem to be happy with it.”
As part of the system parents can also access activity reports to see what their child has been buying as well as control the amount their child has to spend.
