To all you sea anglers out there, the EU is gunning for you. Not content with the near destruction of the British fishing industry through the imposed, ill-judged 'quota ' system allowing the French, Spanish, etc, to plunder British coastal waters, Joe Borg, EU commissioner for maritime affairs (unelected, of course), plans to force recreational skippers to apply for a licence and for all sea anglers to stop fishing when their quotas have been reached. This would be monitored by high-tech surveillance; transgressors would be criminalised. As it's what he wants, it will happen. The British government won't be able to stop it. See Article 47 of the Common Fisheries Policy. In the last few weeks we have had to start to endure poorer lighting in our homes with the compulsory phasing out of incandescent light bulbs for inferior fluorescent bulbs by order of the EU. The countryside, exceptionally beautiful in the SW, is steadily being disfigured by ineffective wind turbines in the name of sustainability; also courtesy of the EU, when what is really needed are proper power stations, coming up is a ban on present day pesticides to the detriment of farming. When will all this interference end? The answer is, unless we get out of the EU, it won't. The steady destruction of our country will carry on. Peter ChestermanUKIP Axe Valley
