NEW fare is being offered by a butcher in Seaton, which is causing a bit of a stir in the town.Seagull sausages have gone on the board at GW Meats, which is run by butcher Glenn Salter. The content of the sausages is, in fact, chicken, but Mr Salter said the promotion is keeping tourists entertained. He said: "East Devon District Council has been thinking of ways of getting rid of the seagull population so we thought we would promote seagull sausages."People are coming into the shop and they are not sure whether we are serious or not."It is causing a bit of a stir because we tell them we catch the seagulls on Tuesdays, which is bin day, and then prepare the sausages on Thursdays and Fridays."We say we are killing two birds with one stone by reducing the seagull population and producing the sausages."Mr Salter said the promotion is popular and he has been pleased with the response.
