Lifeboat supporters in East Devon are in buoyant mood after another bumper fundraising year.
Members of Seaton, Beer and District Branch RNLI say they are delighted with their record collections during 2016.
Secretary Wendy Cummins was particularly pleased the year ended with a £476 boost at the Seaton Tesco Christmas collection.
As a result, she went along to the store last week to present manager Ian Carvell and community champion Rhoda Snell with a special thank-you certificate.
Mrs Cummins continued: “Our shop at Jubilee Gardens, Beer, once again had a record year of sales. We thank our shop managers and volunteers for all their work and all those who purchased from the shop and from our sales stall in Beer and Seaton during 2016.
“We thank the Dolphin Hotel for their continuing support, which is greatly appreciated.”
Mrs Cummins said 2017 marked a special milestone - 50 years since former secretary Barbara Harding formed the Seaton Beer and District Branch.
Barbara raised funds for the RNLI for many years before this, and the Arun Lifeboat Roy and Barbara Harding was named after her and her late husband Roy Harding, who was trials officer for the RNLI.
To mark the special anniversary the branch is holding an ‘SOS table top sale’ on Saturday, January 28, at the Mariners Hall, Beer, from 9am to 12.30pm. The doors will be open to sellers at 8am.
On Saturday, January 28, there will also be a music night in the Long Bar, Dolphin Hotel, from 9pm to 11pm.
