Cllr Stephen Read brings a wealth of experience in international asset management and construction consultancy

Seaton Town Council welcomed a new member to its meeting on Monday (September 7).

Stephen Read was co-opted to the authority last month, following the departure of Councillor Simon Polloni earlier in the year.

Welcoming him to his first full town council meeting Mayor Jack Rowland said: “Stephen joins the council at a time of change and innovation in the council’s work on behalf of the town. We are delighted to have Stephen on board and wish him every success in his new role.”

Councillor Read has considerable experience in international asset management and construction consultancy and coastal protection projects. He is a representative on the West Seaton and Seaton Hole Residents’ Association and the Stakeholder Group considering the Seaton Beach Management Plan. Prior to retirement he was a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the Association of Cost Engineers.

He is an active member of the National Coastwatch Institution supporting safety at sea along with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the Coastguard Rescue Service and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
