Boy racers and under-age drinkers remain the main cause of police concern
CRIME in Seaton continues to fall, according to the latest police figures.
Just 18 incidents were recorded last month, compared with 25 for the same period last year.
They included five cases of criminal damage to motor vehicles, four common assaults and three thefts.
For the year to March 31, total crimes numbered 36, compared with 53 for the previous 12 months.
In March and April the Neighbourhood Beat Team, together with the Special Constabulary, has been targeting anti-social driving and anti-social behaviour, two of the PACT priorities for Seaton.
Speed checks have been carried out at various locations in and around the town, two section 59 warnings have been issued to drivers for anti-social driving – a preliminary to having their cars confiscated - and other warnings have been issued to a number of drivers for other motoring offences.
A police spokesman said: “Whilst incidents of underage drinking continue to have reduced compared to last year, officers have seized alcohol from youths on a number of occasions. “Parents should be aware that it is an offence for youths under 18 to be in possession of alcohol in a public place.
“As hard as it can be, parents should make every effort to know where their children go and what they get up to when they go out at night.”
“If parents have any concerns regarding their children’s alcohol use they can contact the youth intervention officer, PC Hayley Taylor, on 08452 777444.”
