Di Walker to climb Wales’s highest mountain in the dark
One of East Devon’s most senior nurses is preparing to climb Mount Snowdon at night to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Di Walker, who lives in Seaton, will be aiming to reach the summit of the highest mountain in Wales, using a torch and moonlight, when she takes part in a midnight challenge on Friday, May 13.
“I was looking for a personal challenge, but also wanted to raise money for a good cause,” said Di, the senior nurse for community hospitals in Eastern Devon.
She will be walking with three former school friends from Cardiff and more than 200 other trekkers.

She continued: “As my work brings me into contact with many patients with dementia, I decided that raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society would be perfect.”
Di works for the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust and is based at its eastern headquarters near Exeter Airport.

Over the past seven years, she has been matron of Seaton, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton community hospitals.
