Seaton prepares for The Grizzly
PUBLISHED: 07:00 14 February 2015
Plans are under way for the Axe Valley Runners’ Annual Grizzly Weekend in Seaton town centre between Friday, February 27, and Sunday, March 1.
Participants will be painting the town lilac this year with the Grizzly race theme of ‘Dash to Delirium’.
The Grizfest theme, courtesy of Seaton Library, will be from the rhyme ‘Run, run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man’.
The festival celebrates the 20-mile race, and is made possible by law firm Beviss and Beckingsale.
The races will be at 2.15pm and 2.45pm, starting and finishing next to the Morodunam, and the rest of the Grizfest will continue on the seafront in the cafes and Frydays.
The children are rehearsing their Gingerbread Man play at the library and lots of gingerbread men and women are expected to feature all weekend long.
Nigel and Gill Shuell are getting quiz questions ready to host the annual GrizQuiz, and expect hubs of activity at Seaton Town Hall, the Artisan Market and the library, and a Gingerbread Man treasure hunt from the new bookshop The Owl and The Pyramid.
There will be community groups in the town square with activities in the town on Saturday, February 28, from 10am to 2pm.
Businesses are being encouraged as always to decorate their windows which will be judged on Wednesday, February 25, from 6.30pm. Programmes are available from the library, town hall and some shops.
Entry forms for the 4k Junior Grizzly and the 2k Fun Run are available at www.axevalleyrunners.org.uk.
Any community groups that would like to be involved on Saturday, February 28, and any businesses interested in being involved in either helping or a small amount of sponsorship, please contact the GrizFest Team on 07901 906988 or email email@example.com
