A 22-year-old East Devon man is facing trial on rape and sex offences involving a 66 year old woman.

A 22-year-old East Devon man is facing trial on rape and sex offences involving a 66 year old woman.

At Exeter Crown Court Peter Smith, of Sommersby Close, Seaton, pleaded not guilty to three charges of rape and one of assault by penetration.

It is alleged the offences occurred in June this year and prosecutor Richard Crabb said the victim was a woman who had considerable problems.

Smith was remanded in custody until his next court appearance and the trial will start on a date to be fixed.
