Cash donated in memory of Rotarian Roy Chapple - a long time supporter of the local scout troop
SEATON and District Rotary Club president Jean Smith got a warm reception when she handed over a cheque for 5,500 towards a new central heating system at Seaton Scout Hall.
The money was received by scout Simon Davis, aged nine, accompanied by Gordon Davis, Seaton Scout Leader and Liz Napp, Chairperson Seaton Scout Group.
The donation was made in the memory of the late Roy Chapple who, until his death in early December, had been a member of the Seaton Rotary club for over 55 years.
It was Roy’s inspiration to build the Seaton Scout Hall in 1966 with Rotary money and it was mostly due to his drive and effort over the last three years, that enabled the Rotary Club to build up a special fund to meet the Hall’s present upgrading programme.
