Members of Lyme Lifeboat crew receive the cash donation during a barbecue at Axmouth Yacht Club
Members of Seaton Sea Anglers Club (SSAC) capped off their annual barbecue by presenting a cheque for £1,000 to Lyme Regis RNLI.
Speaking at the event, which took place at the Axe Yacht Club, SSAC chairman Steve Wainwright told the gathering: “We are all aware of the great job done by the volunteers of the RNLI, and raising donations for them is our way of contributing to that umbrella, which we all hope we never need to open.”
Lyme Regis RNLI is the sea anglers’ designated charity and, since it was formed, the club has raised more than £13,000, the vast majority going to the life-saving organisation.
Mr Wainwright added: “The barbecue was a great success, due to the generosity of SSAC members, their partners and friends and, not least, the Axe Yacht Club which supported the event.”
