SEATON Town Council has deferred a proposal to invite district councillors and officers to a meeting because of unclear wording on the agenda.

SEATON Town Council has deferred a proposal to invite district councillors and officers to a meeting because of unclear wording on the agenda.

Councillor Pepita Collins proposed during the monthly meeting on Monday (December 21) inviting East Devon District Council chief executive Mark Williams, corporate director for economic development Karime Hassan and councillor Paul Diviani, to discuss aims and objectives for the town next year.

But the motion recommended talking about 'our' aims instead of 'their,' which some councillors feared could disenfranchise the public.

Cllr Collins said: "I just felt Seaton needed to know what EDDC can do for it."

But cllr John Meakin said residents may have wished to voice an opinion if they had known it was about EDDC's plans, rather than the town council's.

Councillors also suggested inviting Kate Little, deputy chief planning officer.
