SEATON Town Council is sending out a newsletter and questionnaire to all households in the town to find out what people want.

The venture, which will cost up to 3,000, will ask residents for their views on what they see as the main priorities for the town council.

Mayor Sandra Semple said: "We have taken on board comments that there is a 'silent majority' in Seaton and this seems to be the best way to reach them. But obviously we cannot do this too often due to the cost."

She added that the council held a public consultation earlier in the year and produced a leaflet on the perceived problems.

The council also publishes a quarterly newsletter, and both are available from the town hall, the library and online. Monthly surgeries are held at the Community Resource Centre.

Cllr Semple added: "However, I must caution people on expecting too much, as the cost of any new projects will need to be funded from either grants or an increase in council tax as we have no investment income or assets."

She said Seaton currently receives 38 per household per year from council tax.
