The countryside team's 2018 summer events guide is now available at libraries, tourist centres and other attractions
East Devon District Council’s Countryside team and its partners have put together a full programme of fun activities for adults and children in the coming months.
The 2018 summer Wild Events Guide, which features an exciting range of things to see and do between April to September, is now available from local libraries, tourist information centres and attractions across East Devon.
The guide can also be viewed online at wildeastdevon.co.uk
Events and activities range from a Hospiscare Twilight Walk and traditional countryside crafts, including willow weaving with Windrush Willow, to volunteering opportunities at the Pebblebed Heaths or the Donkey Sanctuary, as well as night time bat walks, wild canoe safaris, outdoor Tai Chi and the Eggsplorers trail.
Families visiting Seaton Wetlands from now until Monday, April 16, can take part in the Eggsplorers trail from 10am to 4pm daily. Collect a £2 trail from the Lookout (Monday to Friday) or the Discovery Hut (Saturday to Sunday) and complete the bird-box trail to win a prize.
The Discovery Hut at Seaton Wetlands will be open 10am to 4pm Saturday to Monday throughout the summer, with some extended opening hours during school holidays. Visit the Discovery Hut to purchase refreshments and to hire pond dipping equipment. People can also hire the off-road mobility scooter/Tramper, but should note that bookings for it must be made in advance to the Countryside team.
Cllr Tom Wright, East Devon’s portfolio holder for the environment, said: ‘’This spring and summer the East Devon District Council Countryside team is offering an action packed programme of events for all ages and interests to get involved with. The events guide demonstrates the fantastic opportunities across the district to explore our outstanding countryside and try new things, whether that’s with the Countryside team or one of the partner organisations whose events are listed.’’
