AFTER winning the support of Honiton Town Council for a trial policing project, Honiton Canine Friendship Group is to stage a second public meeting. The group, which attracted over 70 people to an initial meeting last month, wants to protect dogs' freedoms at the Glen, where East Devon District Council is proposing to introduce a Dog Control Order. The order would require dogs be kept on leads at the beauty spot, and could be implemented in June.Campaigners have said they will clean up after irresponsible dog owners and, as a result, town councillors have asked the district authority to defer any order for six months - to see how well the scheme goes.Honiton Canine Friendship Group is promoting responsible dog ownership in the town. Its next public meeting will take place at 7.30pm in St Michael's Church on Tuesday, April 21.
