Dick Whittington cast donate 600 for new stage lights at Seaton Town Hall

A smash-hit pantomime is helping future stars to shine at the Seaton Town Hall.

Thanks to a healthy profit from the near sell-out success of Dick Whittington, organisers have bought two new stage lights at a cost of 600.

Spokeswoman Mary Bowles said sound and lighting expert Paul Hotchkiss was planning to replace the old system with more efficient LED lamps, costing 300 each.

She said: “We benefited greatly from Paul’s fabulous lighting effects for our panto this year and these new lights will benefit all users of the hall. We have now paid for two of the four that he needs. We are proud to give back to the community as a thank you for their support.”

Mrs Bowles said they were delighted with the success of this February panto which got rave reviews from all who went to see it.

“We had almost a complete sell out week and made a profit which is not easy in these hard financial times,” she said.

“We are a true amateur group, no one gets paid and a great team put in lots of voluntary hours to get this result.

“Our members’ ages range from aged eight to 85, with no membership fees no one is exempt and anyone wanting to be involved either on stage or off stage is welcomed and appreciated. It’s a real community effort.”
