The Senior Council for Devon, the officially recognised forum for people over 50, has set up a members' self-help scheme amongst its 25 groups throughout the county.
Where possible, group chairpersons and secretaries are contacting their members to provide them with a local contact number of a member who would be willing to co-ordinate any assistance, if required.
The senior council's central office can be contacted for further help via telephone number (01803) 732678 or email info@scfd.org.uk
Older people can be more vulnerable to extreme conditions, and I am concerned that some may be in trouble if this weather is with us for an extended period.
