Public meeting to be held in Honiton today (Friday).

Honiton Senior Voice is holding a public meeting following widespread concerns over the transfer of NHS data from local GPs to a central NHS database.

The meeting will be addressed by GP Dr David Ward and Caroline Lee of Healthwatch Devon at Honiton Methodist Hall this Friday (March 14.)

Honiton Senior Voice chairman Vic Bowsher said: “Many local people who have now had the NHS leaflet are confused about centralising care data.

“We have expressed their concerns to our local doctors and to HealthWatch Devon and we note the BMA and Royal College of GPs are also concerned. The Government has put off the scheme until the autumn but we are still not convinced that people’s medical records will be safe.

“We are grateful that Dr Ward and Caroline Lee are able to spare time to join us and address patients concerns.”
