Firefighters from three towns called to property blaze - but no one is hurt
Firefighters from Seaton, Colyton and Axminster tackled a property fire at West Acres, Seaton, yesterday afternoon (Sunday, October 9).
On arrival, at around 4pm, the crews confirmed the bungalow was heavily smoke logged.
The occupants were out of the property and nobody was harmed. The fire was extinguished using a total of four breathing apparatus wearers, two hose reel jets, two thermal imaging cameras and a positive pressure ventilation fan.
The cause of the fire was accidental and originated in a bedroom.
Seaton fire station manager Mike Markham said: “It was an accidental fire which destroyed the bedroom and seriously damaged the rest of the property with smoke damage. There were smoke alarms present, unknown if working.
“It is extremely important to have properly fitted working smoke alarms. They should be tested weekly to ensure they work.
“This was a serious fire brought under control quickly by fire crews from Seaton, Colyton and Axminster.”
