The first was a £250 cheque to Upottery Football Club, which will be put towards its changing facilities.

The club also donated £250 to the Deer Park Hotel’s nominated charity, Hospiscare.

The money was given as a thank you for the free use of the hotel for the club’s meetings.

Thanks has also been directed to managers and customers at Honiton Tesco, who supported several collections at the store held by the Lions.

All together, the collections raised £470, which will go to Lions’ charities.

David Rickard, Honiton Lion, said: “We are delighted to support these great causes.

“We are now looking ahead to our annual duck race, which is held in Weston on August 12.

“We are pleased to say on this occasion, money raised will go to Honiton Admiral Nurse appeal and local youth causes.”
