Shed-ucation following break-ins, Seaton
PUBLISHED: 15:12 12 August 2010
POLICE are warning Seaton residents to be vigilant following an increase in shed thefts.
The neighbourhood team has launched its ‘shed-ucation’ campaign and is urging people to lock their sheds and garages and lock away garden equipment after use.
Pc Roy Hutter said an increase in shed thefts was typical over summer and advised people to fit strong padlocks and outside lighting.
He added people could install outside fencing and put defensive plants – such as prickly plants and hedges – as a defence against thieves.
Residents are also advised to mark their property with their postcode, house number or name – making them traceable and deterring criminals.
