East Devon Field Target club presents £350 to Lyme Regis lifeboat crew

East Devon Field Target Club had a worthy cause in its sights when it staged a recent competition.

Members raised more than £350 at the event and last week secretary Jeremy Stamp went along to the Lyme Regis lifeboat station to present a cheque to the RNLI.

Crew members heard that the competition had local connections with Jeremy’s daughter being the partner of lifeboat volunteer Dave Bisson.

The link didn’t stop there as Dave actually made the specially commissioned medals for the event at his workshop in Lyme Regis.

Jeremy told the lifeboat team: “We regularly have events where we raise funds for a charity and the RNLI with all their life-saving work was an obvious choice. The event was very well supported with entrants from Truro to Bristol coming along for the day. Everyone was really impressed with the special RNLI medals Dave made for the competition.”

Volunteer deputy press officer Eddie Browne told the Herald: “It is wonderful to see the appreciation of the work the RNLI does from so many diverse sources and in this instance the personal connections make it even more special.

“Donations like these are the lifeblood of the RNLI and ensure the volunteers continue to receive the training and have the equipment they need to carry out their life saving activities.”
