In response to Tony Smith ("Loss of another shop outlet") I can comment that I certainly believe the shop rents are too high, as are business rates. We were looking for a shop unit for a new business venture last year. The yearly rents on a small unit ranged from £12,000 to £14,500 per annum. Add to that business rates at approximately half of the rent again. Then add the cost of refuse collections, electricity, gas, water...It it is no wonder we are in danger of losing more of Honiton's excellent range of independent stores. MR R BROWNBy emailHoniton
