Primary school is rated good “with outstanding features”

SHUTE Primary School is celebrating after receiving high marks in its latest Ofsted inspection.

Officials rated it “good” with “outstanding features”.

The result is a double success for Shute which was recently rated second in the county for the percentage of Year 6 pupils attaining and exceeding the expected level in English and maths.

Shute, one of the first in the country to be inspected under the new Ofsted framework, was particularly praised for the behaviour of its children, which was rated ‘outstanding’, with no evidence of bullying whatsoever.

Elsewhere in the report, the school was commended on the children’s level of achievement.

“Parents and carers rightly believe that their children are achieving well and are especially pleased with the good progress they make in the Early Years Foundation stage, notably in their social and emotional development,” said inspectors.

The school was also described as meeting the needs of all pupils, with “excellent support” for those with special needs and/or disabilities.

Amanda Graham, Headteacher, told The Herald: ‘We pride ourselves on nurturing happy, thoughtful and confident children and it is a great joy when, alongside this, we generate fantastic results, too. I am immensely proud of our children and staff. Our school’s future has never looked brighter.”
