ENVIRONMENTAL health officers at Knowle have reported good progress, so far, in attempts to eliminate noise from a laundry in Honiton.

ENVIRONMENTAL health officers at Knowle have reported good progress, so far, in attempts to eliminate noise from a laundry in Honiton.Residents on the Heathfield estate have complained that Westcountry Laundry, which operates 24 hours-a-day, is keeping them awake at night.Councillor Michael Teare, chairman of Honiton Town Council's planning committee, told a meeting last week: "There has been good progress."Reading from an East Devon District Council report, he said: "Silencers have been fitted to four main tumble drier vents."The silences were fitted at the end of April and noise emissions had been reduced.Factory managers have ordered further equipment to minimise noise even further.Westcountry Laundry is based at Heathpark Industrial Estate and comprises the amalgamation of two former laundries.
