More than 100 shoeboxes have been filled by students in Honiton to bring a smile to children’s faces on Christmas Day.
Sixth-form students at Honiton Community College have asked for donations of gifts, shoeboxes and wrapping paper to contribute to the Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child, in which a box is filled and sent to children less fortunate than themselves.
A HCC spokeswoman said: “The response has been amazing with students from all years bringing in toys, books, stationary as well as sweets and toiletries for the sixth formers to warp and pack a fabulous total of 101 boxes.
“All of the boxes have been sorted, packed and wrapped and then delivered to a collection point.
“Sixth-formers would like to thank everyone who kindly donated including Just Cards in High Street and Honiton Tesco. The thought of bringing 101 smiles to faces in a few weeks’ time has been well worth the effort.”
