A SMALL black cat was handed into Axminster police station on Friday, and officers are appealing for the owner to come forward.

The pet is currently at Coombefield Veterinary Hospital and will have to be re-homed if nobody claims it.

The cat was wearing a mauve, velvety collar with a small brass barrel attached. The barrel opens up and to hold contacts details but was empty.
