Temperature set to plummet. Sleet could turn to snow on Monday.

Sleet could turn to snow within days as temperatures take a plunge, the Met Office has warned.

Wet and windy weather at the weekend could be followed by sleet on Saturday and, on Monday, sleet could turn to snow.

Sunday is forecast to be dry with sunny spells but feeling “very cold”.

The Met Office says the temperature could dip to -1.

Tonight (Thursday): Outbreaks of rain, mainly in the east, gradually easing to become largely dry by dawn, with a few clear spells developing. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.

Friday: A drier and at times brighter day, though still large amounts of cloud at times. Feeling cold despite any brightness. Maximum Temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Wet and windy on Saturday, risk of sleet later. Dry with sunny spells on Sunday and feeling very cold. Unsettled and cold, perhaps with sleet or snow on Monday.
