It was a very busy week for a Honiton man, which not only marked the start of his army career but also the beginning of his married life.

Ryan Braunton-Turner successfully made it through weeks of tough army training and was joined by his family, including his brother Glynn, who is serving in the army in Germany, and his sister Zoe, at his ‘passing out’ parade in Catterick.

He enrolled in February alongside 58 recruits – only 28 made it through.

The very next day Ryan got married to Yazmin Perham at Widworthy Church.

It is believed that this was the first time that the church bells had rung for 56 years.

The 20-year-old will now join 2 Rifles in Northern Ireland in September.
