Police are linking the burglaries with similar incidents that occurred in Beer and Branscombe.

PC Steve Speariett said: “It is likely that the offenders were using a vehicle, as a number of larger items were reported stolen.

“We are asking the community to record and report the registration numbers of any vehicles that arouse suspicion. If you believe a crime is being committed, please call 999 at the time.”

Three arsons were also reported last month.

The first was logged on January 4, and involved two vehicles, a BMW 323 and a Mitsubishi Lancer being set alight on Harepath Hill. [CR/000872/15 & CR/000882/15]

Minor damage was also caused to the kiosk on the Esplanade which police say was caused by the use of a lighter.

Police logged 18 crimes over January, an increase of six per cent from last year.
