DRIVERS recently caught speeding in Seaton have been added to the police database and sent warning letters.

Checks were carried out in Colyford Road and Harepath Road last month by the Neighbourhood Beat team as part of a Police and Communities Together (PACT) priority.

Police said further action would be taken against drivers caught in excess of the speed limit a second time.

They added that the main purpose of the check days are to educate and warn drivers who commit offences.

In Colyford Road, two vehicles were caught travelling between 36 and 40mph. But 38 vehicles were found to be driving at 30mph or less.

In Harepath Road, one driver was caught travelling over 50mph, and 73 at the designated speed limit or lower (out of 100 vehicles).
