Poor sanitation is experienced by 2.4 billion people across the world, who don’t have anywhere safe to go to the toilet and St Paul’s Church Honiton is promoting awareness of the subject.

Throughout July, St Paul’s will have a display in the church porch with literature giving further information, and the chance to donate to this cause.

A spokesman said: “By donating £60 to Toilet Twinning to twin your toilet, you help those in desperate poverty to have access to a proper latrine, clean water and the information they need to be healthy.

“One in three people across the world don’t have somewhere safe to go to the toilet.

“Bad sanitation is one of the world’s biggest killers: it hits women, children, old and sick people hardest.

“Every minute, a child under the age of five dies because of dirty water and poor sanitation. Around half the people in the world have an illness caused by bad sanitation.”
