Lifeboat called to help fisherman cut off by the high tide on Lyme Regis harbour wall

An angler cut off by the high tide on the north wall of Lyme Regis harbour was rescued by the town’s RNLI lifeboat last night (Sunday).

The man’s wife raised the alarm, and the lifeboat was launched at 6pm, crossing the harbour to reach him.

Deputy Launching Authority Colin Jones said: “The incident was over very quickly since the lifeboat did not even have to leave the harbour.

“But conditions were pretty awful and the man would have been stuck in the open in bad weather for about another three hours if we had not been called.”
