A FAMILY of five from Honiton was rescued by a good Samaritan after their car became stuck in ice on a blind bend, on Sunday.

Dave Wills , whose youngest child is just three weeks old, says he is grateful to the owner of a 4x4 for driving his family home.

However, he is concerned Northleigh Hill should have been closed - or at least gritted.

"The emergency services were informed at 7.45am on Sunday by the golf club that the road was dangerous and yet nobody closed it," he told the Herald.

At least 11 cars were stranded at the spot at one point, one of which struck a hedge.
