Students' results in national top ten

SIX GCSE students from The Woodroffe School, in Lyme Regis, have achieved top ten places nationally and two of them are only 14-years-old.

SIX GCSE students from The Woodroffe School, in Lyme Regis, have achieved top ten places nationally - and two of them are only 14-years-old.Maddy Williams, Stephanie Yaskin, Celia Cruwys-Finnigan and Elana Edwards sat GCSE art and design earlier in the year and the results, issued last month, show that out of 36,294 candidates they were each placed in the top ten in the country.Celia and Elana, who completed the 'Fast Track' art programme run by community art teacher Alison Bowskill, sat the exam two years early at the end of Year Nine.Harry Pestelle and Jamie Jones were placed in the top ten of 60,878 GCSE drama students.Edexcel's managing director Jerry Jarvis said: "This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work students put into preparing for their exams. We send our congratulations."Maddy, Harry and Jamie have joined the sixth form at Woodroffe; Celia and Elana Year 10; and Stephanie is now at Exeter College.Pictured are top students Harry Pestelle, Maddy Williams, Jamie Jones, Elana Edwards and Celia Cruwys-Finnigan.
