Colyton Grammar School Chamber Choir give a ‘confident and controlled’ performance at Truro Cathedral

Colyton Grammar School’s Chamber Choir travelled to Cornwall recently to sing the service of Evensong in Truro Cathedral.

The 41 Sixth Form students performed psalms, responses, a setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by George Dyson and an anthem by the Italian composer Lassus, in which the choir sang in eight parts as two Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass groups.

Director of Music, David House, said: “I was delighted to take the choir to my home city of Truro, and give everyone the chance to sing in the wonderful acoustics of the cathedral.”

“The singing throughout Evensong was confident, controlled and very musical.”

As with all Chamber Choir events, the trip was rounded off with an excellent meal - this time at an Italian restaurant - before the journey back to Devon.
