HOSPISCARE Honiton has enjoyed a successful year - thanks to the hard work and dedication of a small army of volunteers.

The support group's chairman, Eileen Rooke, paid tribute to them during the annual general meeting, held at Honiton Baptist Church last Thursday.

"The committee is pretty marvellous," she said. "I appreciate your efforts so much."

She referred to volunteers, explaining the varied ways they help Hospiscare, pointing out: "Not everybody wants to jump out of a plane, cook meals or sort buttons."

Mrs Rooke and her entire committee were re-elected to serve another year.

Trevor Bolshaw remains the group's president.

Guest speakers at the meeting were former Samaritan Ray Bradley OBE and Hospiscare's most senior nurse in East Devon, Angela Phillips.
