The sun finally shone on Colyton Grammar School’s spring fair – and helped organisers raise a cool £6,300 towards a new minibus.

The popular annual event had to be cancelled last year because of the weather so members of the parents’ Association were delighted when they woke up to a rain-free day.

Spokeswoman Heidi Merrett said the event was a huge success as far as they were concerned.

She said: “It was well attended with a warm and friendly atmosphere aided by the student buskers who were raising money for the school’s charity – the Forces’ Children’s Trust.”
