Sun, smiles and plenty of fun at Stockland Fair

Children at Stockland and Yarcombe Pre-school made the most of the spring sunshine in their new garden after spending a fun-filled day at Stockland Fair.

The garden is situated in one corner of the play park, near the pre-school and Victory Hall.

Parents, staff and children enjoyed a grand opening last month, where children participated in nature-themed crafts and a hands-on wild treasure hunt around the playing field.

Stockland Pre-school ran the face painting stall at the Stockland Fair and had a steady stream of customers, thanks to the spring weather on the day.

Valerie Conlon, vice-chairman of the pre-school, said: “We are really delighted with the garden and would like to thank Stockland Parish Council for kindly donating the piece of land.

“The children are having a wonderful time, exploring nature and planting vegetables in our raised beds - peas, potatoes and carrots are all in the ground and the willow den provides a wonderful tunnel for them to play in.

“We would also like to thank our parent volunteers, whose hard work made the garden come to life, as well as everyone who supported our fundraising efforts.

“Stockland Educational Fund
kindly donated £45 towards equipment and our Hall and Hearty dinner raised a fantastic £733. This, together with the generous donation from Stockland fair committee last year, meant we were able to fund a large part of the equipment we needed.”
