A BUSINESS-WOMAN'S aim to open a traditional tea room in her sweet shop went down a treat with town councillors when the plan was discussed at a meeting last week.

A BUSINESS-WOMAN'S aim to open a traditional tea room in her sweet shop went down a treat with town councillors when the plan was discussed at a meeting last week.Tracey Slater, of Sweets and Treats, at 27 High Street, is seeking permission to change the use of her shop, so she can serve refreshments.Former mayor Councillor Vernon Whitlock was keen to support a project that may boost trade at the far end of the High Street.He referred to the recent public meeting with shopkeepers, at which it was stated more needed to be done to encourage trade on the extremities of the town centre.Members of Honiton Town Council's planning committee recommended the plan for approval.East Devon District Council will have the final say.
