Support for the Honiton Christmas Lights Appeal is growing brighter.

Homebase in Honiton has agreed to provide around 120 artificial trees at a reduced price to Go Festive - the Honiton Christmas Lights Committee - to decorate the town this December.

Store manager Simon Sheldrake was pleased to support the appeal and said: “We are always happy to help.”

The appeal is being supported by the Midweek Herald and officially launched last week.

The Go Festive committee added: “We want to thank Homebase for its support, which means a lot to us. For a company of this size, which is not based on the high street, to help make High Street look good is fantastic.

“We would like to encourage businesses to come forward - we need your support and the support of everyone.”

The committee is hoping to raise £10,000 to go towards a festive display in the town. It already has £2,000 in the fundraising pot - £1,000 was donated by Lidl and a further £1,000 was made available from Honiton Town Council.

Anyone interested in joining the committee, helping with fundraising, or donating raffle prizes is urged to call David Foster on 01404 45106 or email davidofhoniton@yahoo.co.uk

A Christmas lights appeal quiz is being held on Saturday, August 23, at Honiton Conservative Club, 7.30pm for 8pm. There will be prizes for the best dressed Christmas team.
