Members of Sustainable Seaton - A Transition Town have been whizzing around town on environmentally friendly scooters.

Franchise owners of the battery-powered Sedway visited the group at the Tramway car park to demonstrate its use.

After a short lesson, member and town councillor Claire Wise, rode the vehicle around the car park.

She said: "At first I was worried it would be hard to balance on, but after a few words of advice and a tentative start, I was soon rocketing around the car park grinning at the sheer fun of the experience.

"You stop, start and change direction by the movement of your own body weight. It was very different to anything I'd previously experienced, but amazingly simple to grasp.

"I had great fun and am now very excited at the prospect of being able to offer visitors to our Green Transport Rally the same chance."

The Green Transport Rally is planned for August 16th, and five Segways are expected to be available to visitors on the day.
