Overwhelming support for protest over public sector pensions.

Residents across East Devon have today told the Midweek Herald that they sympathise with teachers and other public sector workers who are on strike today, protesting over changes to pensions.

Teachers are among those to be taking part in a national day of industrial action.

Schools and colleges across the district are either closed or open to reduced numbers. Very few are unaffected by the strike action.

But, while residents say they sympathise with strikers over changes to pensions, they said cuts had to be made somewhere.
