Prizes up for grabs in photo competition.

Everyone should bring their camera to the Devon County Show and capture the fun, the buzz and the action of the show, and this year you can submit your photos to the great Devon Life/Devon County Show Photo Competition.

Photographers will love the huge variety of subjects at the Devon County Show! From action to still life, from magnificent bulls to tiny bees, countryside crafts to artisan food and drink, and athletic showjumpers to dare-devil stunt motorcycle riders, there are a myriad of possibilities.

The county show offers photographers opportunities to shoot outside, indoors and under canvas, plenty of moving targets as well as those that stay still! There are special occasions a plenty from an unofficial world record attempt to create the largest Devon cream tea, Kirstie Allsopp’s Channel 4 Tea Party competition on Friday, to the majesty of horseback falcony displays, metalwork competitions and sheep shearing demonstrations.

There will be young livestock handlers in white coats, bowler-hatted stewards, folk dancing and musicians, Exmouth champions wearing colourful carnival costumes and the impressive grand parade of livestock on Friday and Saturday afternoons when all the stars of the livestock showing arenas are celebrated in the main arena.

Look out for TV celebrities including Adam Henson from BBC 1’s Countryfile and Aled Jones from BBC’s Escape to the Country; and, of course, there will be plenty of local stars from local BBC Spotlight and ITV Westcountry teams, not forgetting Devon Life!

There are handicrafters in abundance ranging from lace making to flower arranging, as well as an impressive dog show, fast and furious terrier racing and scurry driving, talented chefs in the demonstration cookery theatre, butter making and beer drinking.
