Winners announced after residents vote for best customer service in Honiton.
The winners of the Pride of Honiton Awards for 2019 have been announced.
Honiton Chamber of Commerce chair, Tony McCollum announced the winners at the chamber's annual general meeting.
The award celebrates the very best of customer service by local businesses.
This year the award was won by Honiton Sports Shop in the High Street, beating off 39 other nominated businesses.
On receiving the award Helen said: “I am very pleased to receive this award and very grateful that so many of our regular customers expressed their appreciation for the service we give in this shop by taking the time to vote.
“The loyalty shown by our customers means a lot to us and they can be assured that level of service will continue and with Dannie they will always be met with a broad smile.”
About this year's competition, Tony said: “Once again we are delighted that this year brought the highest number of nominees as well as the highest number of votes cast in the nine-year history of the award.
“With so many businesses nominated, 39, all of which were small independents and just short of 800 votes cast, this remains testimony that the people of Honiton believe they receive the best service from the smaller local businesses and that is why so many independent shops and businesses thrive in Honiton.
“The award is entirely in the hands of the public and that gives the competition even more credence and gravitas.”
He continued: “With so many votes and businesses nominated and the count being very close, we didn't know who would win until the very last moment, this year we will be awarding certificates to the two runners up, Trip Community Transport Association and Beauty By Bev, both of New Street, Honiton, as well as the trophy and winner's certificate to Helen and Dannie at Honiton Sports.
Bev Stamp said: “It's good to be in such good company and I'm glad that all my lovely customers got me into the top three.”
