Honiton woman sets aside her fears to raise extra funds for local school boy Jamie Dyer.

A Honiton woman took the plunge to raise extra funds for specialist equipment for local school boy Jamie Dyer.

Tracy Gillard set aside her fears to do a tandem skydive at Dunkeswell and has so far raised more than £1,000.

All the money raised will go towards boosting funds for any specialist equipment that cerebral palsy sufferer Jamie will need in the future at Honiton Swimming Pool.

“It went really well but it was very scary, said the 43-year-old, who works at Costa Coffee. “It is something everyone should experience.

“It was a great experience but I don’t want to do it again.”

Jamie and his mother June turned out on the day of the jump to support Tracy.

Tracy says she has been overwhelmed by the tremendous support she has received from the community and customers at Costa Coffee.

The managing director of Jurassic Coast Coffee, James Witty, who owns the Costa Coffee franchise in Honiton, paid for the cost of the skydive so all the money raised could go to Jamie’s appeal.

She added: “I want to say a big thank you to everyone that has supported me and to James for funding the skydive.”

There is still time to sponsor Tracy and forms are available at Costa Coffee in High Street.

A specialist hoist and disabled changing bench is to be installed at Honiton Swimming Pool after a successful appeal to the community for help.
